Durn House is a family run business based on the fabulous Moray Coast in North East Scotland offering boutique accommodation and fabulous food in an 18th century Scottish Mansion in Portsoy.
Aquired in 2005 by the current owners, Durn House spent the next 6 years undergoing extensive renovation. Durn House now continues to provide memorable experiences for our visitors and guests.
Our Grade B listed Georgian Mansion is over 250 years old, and has many squirky original features. Natural and historical wear and tear to the building makes some of our features all the more special to Durn House, as they tell the story of how loved the House was by the owners from generations gone by. Most noticeably, the stairs to the main entrance are very individual, and require that extra little bit of appreciation when entering and leaving the building.
Durn House itself is not accessible for those who require special assistance in regards to mobility. Entrance in to the House, as well as to all bedrooms across two floors, is via stairs only. There is no lift inside the building in which to gain access to any floors.
Durn House is a private, boutique Guest House, open to residents and non-residents . All of our non-resident events, such as Evening Dining, Afternoon Teas etc. are bookable in advance.
The region is famed for its stunning beaches, wildlife, coastal trail as well as being on the famous Whisky and Castle trails.
The Banffshire Coast – a place of undisturbed natural beauty where dolphins, gannets, porpoises, puffins, and the occasional whale, make their home. And who would blame them when Banffshire has such an unspoilt environment on the land, in the sea and in the air?
You’ll find our coastline dotted with fishing villages which have remained remarkably well preserved and which have resisted the advances of too much modern development.
